Using LifeXP, it is possible to add various skills that you are currently learning, and tasks associated with those skills. Skills are usually broad things such as Learning French or Getting fit. Tasks have a score associated with them as well as a starting number of points. Examples of tasks are:

  • 1 hour of violin practice = 2 points
  • 1 hour of exercise = 1 point
  • 1 Dickens novel read = 10 points

You are free to define tasks and their rewards however you like, after all it's only for fun.

Once you've created a few tasks, update the number of points you have by adding updates on the number of hours you've practised etc. LifeXP will automatically work out how many points that is and adds it to your total.

LifeXP is a small Facebook application written using Ruby on Rails and the RFacebook plugin. Being one of the first Rails projects I wrote, the code isn't as clean as it could be, but I would appreciate any comments you have on the source, which is available below.
