Employment History
Research Assistant, Information Agents Multimedia Group, University of Southampton
June 2006 – September 2006
Worked on a weather sensor visualisation project within the IAM group, as part of the ALADDIN project. Gained experience in designing and creating large-scale Java applications with graphical user interfaces, as well as RDF ontologies and methods for semantically describing data.
- Gained experience of designing and creating large GUI-based Java applications.
- Analysed the relative strengths and weaknesses of AWT and Swing for the application.
- Designed and implemented RDF ontology for semantically describing and storing sensor data.
Research Assistant, Advanced Knowledge Technologies Project, University of Southampton
June 2005 – September 2005
Work included creation and modification of RDF documents using Perl-based scripts, and their storage on triple-store databases. Gained knowledge of the principles of the semantic web, RDF, storing data in the form of triples and improved my Perl programming skills.

- Learned RDQL and SPARQL, a query languages for searching RDF triple stores
Interests
I find Japanese language and culture fascinating, and have been studying it in my spare time for over 6 years.
